TOUR: CLASSIC LUXURY WILDLIFE SAFARI (9 days / 8 nights)
The safari begins with a 2 day luxury train journey starting from Rovos Rail’s gracious station in Pretoria and ending at the Victoria Falls. Then 2 nights at a beautiful lodge on the Zambezi River to do a sunset cruise and visit the Falls before transferring to Duma Tau, the first of 2 camps in Northern Botswana. This is in the Linyanti Wildlife reserve where huge herds of elephant congregate in the dry winter months along with Sable, Roan and other plains animals. Following close by are the predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and packs of wild dog. Game viewing on land and water (if the water levels are high) is excellent. The second camp, Xigera, is in the Okavango Delta where you can enjoy a true Delta experience while you sit back in a mokoro (dug-out canoe) and silently glide through the tranquil Okavango waterways or watch the sunset and birds flying in to roost whilst enjoying a sundowner drink next to the game vehicle. The wooden footbridge, a unique feature to Xigera, connects Xigera Island to the next and is often used by Lion and Leopard moving between the islands allowing guests great viewing opportunities. The rare Sitatunga antelope can be seen here. Birding is also superb with specials such as Pel’s Fishing Owl, Slaty Egret and many more.

Duma Tau and Xigera are 2 of the Wilderness Safaris Tented Camps in Botswana, and depending on time of year, guest preferences, and availability, they may be replaced by other camps in the area.

Transfers between camps are in light aircraft which is in itself part of the quintessential Botswana safari experience.
