As a husband and wife team our overriding priority as a dedicated birding and wildlife safari tour operator since 1997 is to provide a specialized eco tour service focusing exclusively and intensely on Southern Africa as our only geographic priority. Meticulous attention to detail and hand-crafted itineraries with the personal touch are the inspirational hallmarks we have set ourselves as key objectives.

OUR ACCREDDITATION

Avian Leisure operates as a registered and fully tax compliant and comprehensively insured tour operator under the Department of Environmental Affairs & Tourism and is a member of the Southern African Tourism Services Association of Southern Africa. Avian Leisure is registered by the Namibia Tourism Board to operate in Namibia. Tour guides are fully qualified members of Field Guides Association of South Africa and endorsed by Bird Life South Africa. Tours are endorsed by the American Birding Association. Accommodation facilities are hand-picked for comfort, service and location, usually 4 or 5 star Tourism Grading Council of South Africa graded establishments.

OUR CONSERVATION COMMITMENT

Financing environmental education and research initiatives within local rural communities in the interest of habitat preservation and wildlife conservation has always been integral to our core beliefs. Projects undertaken include the financing of the inaugural bird guide training course in South Africa and organizing ongoing sponsorship for the Bird Guides Club of Uganda. Profits from pelagic trips are donated to Seabird Conservation, in particular the 'Save the Albatross' campaign.
